So you have probably gathered that we have are having a little fly tying contest. Here’s the scoop… we want to feature the flies of some ‘undiscovered’ talent in our 2011 full color catalog. Our good friends over at Rainy’s Flies (the company who does flies for Kreh, Clouser, Whitlock, Galloup and more) will be taking them to production for us as well.
Not only that but the winners will pick up some cool stuff from companies like Renzetti, Fishpond and more (stay tuned for more on the prizes).
So take a look around the site and let us know what you think. To enter this month’s giveaway, just give us some kind of feedback. Comments, questions, suggestions, the good, the bad, the ugly… we want it all. So just scroll down and comment to let us know what you think.
Remember, this contest is for you- the normal guy, so if you have a pattern, we would LOVE to see it and if you can think of a way we can make it better, we want to know! We will choose a random comment at the end of March and award the Renzetti Traveller.
Good luck and we hope to see one of your patterns in the contest!
Evan

This would be a good way for me to start fly tying.
I wish I had some better patterns to show off. I need that vise to work some up! The mini vise-grips are getting old.
I need a good pattern for early season Smallmouth. My kids have tied some interesting patterns, soon we will see how well they work.
The site is very nice to traverse and has a ton of useful information. Busy tying flies to pass the winter blues. Would LOVE to win the Renzetti, or anything for that matter!
I would love to to on a Renzetti!
This is a really nice deal you guys are doing here!
LOVE the new site! Navigation is fantastic, speed is excellent, images are light, and product is great. More meta tags might help search engine optimization, but all in all, well done!
If I had a beautiful vise like that, my flies would still look lile crap. But at least I’d have a beautiful vise.
I have been using Renzetti vices all my life. Would love to get my hands on this one…..
Make that” I would love to tie on a Renzetti!”.
This would be great for our fishing and camping outing to the Boundary Waters and Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota along the Canadian border during the first full week of June. It would come in handy once we see what the walleye, northerns and stream trout are feeding on at that time of year.
I want that vise baddddd
This looks a lot nicer than the ole Thompson Model “A” I started with back in ’78 (which I still got!). Hope I get a chance to try this out someday!
Nice vise, I would love to give it a try.
what i could do with a nice vise like that. It’s beautiful i could really tie some nice flys on it.
My son would be so jealous!
The site is always very user friendly. Would love to be able to tie a fly good enough to feature in your 2011 catalog…………….will try my best.
Would be great to try a Renzetti!
Why the cross tombstone bullets on the fly pattern menu?
Oh how I would love to have this vise.
Out of respect for the person who taught me to fly, I try to teach someone new every winter to tie flies. i’d love to have a second vise of this caliber!
Hi Brian Wise and Evan at Feather-Craft,
This is a great web site.
I think your instructional video about the site and how to submit fly patterns is easy to follow and watch.
If I had more time I would submit a few myself
Cheers and keep up the good work.
very fine vice….much better than the one i’m using now
will make tying everything from nymphs to big streamers a whole lot easier
I’d like to win the vise!!!!
Tools make the man…would that I would be that man!
Great looking vise…cant wait to show it off!
I’ve heard that these are great Vises would really be nice to Have one
I have the Master and love it. I have been wanting the Traveler for awhile. Next month give away the Fishpond Coyote vise bag.
Renzetti produces some very nice vices.
Hi my name is Pat and I am fully addicted to fly tying. Thanks Ted! I decided back in October that it was time to start twisting my own. I took a friend’s advice and I went into F-C and Ted totally hooked me up. He got some bags, recipe sheets, showed me where the materials that I needed were. It was awesome. I’ve been back a few times since. A Renzetti would just pinch my hook!
Here’s a pattern that was inspired by Scott Sanchez’ article “Suspended Reality” in the April 2006 American Angler magazine. It’s designed to look like a beetle (or maybe an ant or cricket) that is half drowned. It has worked very well for me in the summer and early fall when fish are taking terrestrials.
Hook: wide gap emerger style hook (I used size 14 DaiRiki 125)
Thread: dark olive
Body: Peacock Black Ice Dubbing
Under-wing: 15-20 strands of black Krystal Flash
Over-wing: Strip of black closed cell foam
Indicator: Pink HiViz
I’d love to be able to upgrade 15 year old Renzetti to new one.
Great contest. Fantastic website. Almost always I can find what I need.
I have a nice Renzetti Traveler on my bench, but I’d love to have one for my travel tying kit.
I’ve just started tying my own flies adn would love to have the vise. I really need it!
Love Renzetti. I’ve used a basic Traveler for years, always wanted to upgrade to the new jaws. This would do that in a big way.
I tie my flies on a vise my uncle made me and have never use what you would call a good vise. If I was to win a vise like this Renzetti I could tie some flies that I can’t with the vise I use now.
Yeah! Now I can have a vise to use when the six year old want to help!
I bought a Regal. Many times, I wish I had a Renzetti instead.
Would like the cam model of this great vise. Have the old style that I have used for years.
Website looks good. One thing I would like to see is an area attached to flies. It would be nice to know where certain patterns work.
Nice vice
About time to replace my Herters vice
That is a beautiful vise. Many thanks to feather-craft for giving us these opportunities!
A Renzetti rotary vise?!?! SWEET! i don’t know, i like spending an hour on each fly that requires tying on both sides. The Mrs. would never let me spend that kinda money on fly tying stuff.
Site’s very well done, but I think it would be nice to include some links to other good tying sites as well( if you already do I guess I missed it). Thanks for the opportunity to win the vise!
How about throwing in a nice trip to Alaska or Labrador to properly break in that Traveller Vise? I will send photos!
wow! looks cool! I hav3 to figure out how to take a photo of my flies though… couldn’t I just send one in?
I will make a place on my desk. Please rush the vise to me ASAP.
Heck, I have had a Renzetti Traveler for about 20 years and I’ve tied hundreds, if not thousands, of flies. I don’t need another one but if I win it I’ll give it to my son who’s just starting to tie his own flies with the old vice I used when I started tying. There is not a better vice than the Traveler for most fly tiers.
