Hook: #14 Std. Dry Fly
Thread: Brown
Abdomen: Dazzelaire antron ribbed with fine gold mylar
Thorax: Dazzelaire antron tied in softly to allow air pockets
Hackle: 1 1/2 turns partridge
Head: Several wraps of peacock herl
Note: I have caught more fish on this fly than any other. Primarily used as a wet on the swing, but when trout are rising, you can false cast it dry and then fish it as a dry.
Pattern History:
I started tying this fly nearly 10 years ago. This pattern has caught more fish for me than any other pattern. It works in any location where caddis thrive.
Comments / Special Instructions:
Remember to tie the thorax in “softly” so that the Dazzleaire allows air to be collected. The fly can be magical in that it truly imitates the emerging caddis.
As above, it can also be dried off through false casts and fished as a dry fly. Interestingly, when I see a rise, I position myself to have the wet fly quarter down cast swing occur where I saw the rise. Usually that fish will hit the fly.

Great pattern! Simple in materials but looks super fishy. I’ll be tying up a couple to try out.
