Pattern Recipe:
I willlist materials in the steps of tying the fly. Stylemore than pattern.
1. Size 8 streamer hook in vice.
Attach thread .
2. Run a foot long piece of 15lb mono through the hook eye. Wrap thread over this and the shankto the bend area.
3. tie in a marabou tail.
4. tie in flat mylar and coat the shank with zap-a-gap to hold the mono.Wrap mylar to eye and tie off.
5. P:lace 6 glassbeadsof onecolor on the mono. Follow tih two more groups of 6 glass beads on the mono.
6. Place a 1/0 bass stinger hook in the vice. Attatch thread half way down the shank. Tie on flat mylar and make a tag down the bend of the hook.
7. Place the mono over the hook shank and wrap to the eye of the hook.
8. Set the body on top of the hook and mark where the body will end. I tie a different color thread on here to mark it.
9. Wrap back to the tag and tie in red flashabou type material below the hook shank and silver above the shank.
10. Wrap a Chinese neck saddle for the
collar.
11. Startthe body on the hook eye. Zap-a-gap the shank and shove the body on the hook. The glue holds the body and the mono.
12 add legs and eyes.
Pattern History:
I was reading about tandem fly patterns and decided that it might work well in a popper.
Every once in a while I have some one tell me that a fly rod will not catch real fish.
I like this pattern becasue I can usually tie it on and catch a bass.
I fish for bass on occasion.
Comments / Special Instructions:
This fly can be tied with a multitude of marabou, mylar, bead, collar, body, leg and eye colors.
I glue foam sheets (5) together and then use punches to cut the bodies out.
Five layers makes a good panfish popper and two make the body for this fly.
