Pattern Recipe:
Hooks: Front size 1 Mustad Stinger Deer Hair, Back size 8 streamer hook.
Thread – Black
Body - CCT Body Fur Olive
Legs - Fly Tails small olive
Tail - Fly Tails large yellow
Eyes - Yellow Doll Eyes
Pattern History:
This fly is to replicate a 4″ Zoom soft plastic lizard, very popular among bass fisherman in out area. I am submitting it, simply because I cannot find a similar pattern available commercially. It is the only lizard made for fly fisherman in my area.
Comments / Special Instructions:
I will admit, while this is a unique pattern here, it is not the easiest tie. It requires tying an articulated fly to achieve the length, and be able to tie the legs out either side of the hook, then palmer the CCT body fur. I am working on a version using WB chenille and Ice chenille on the back hook, and then the CCT Body fur on the front hook, that would make it faster, and more friendly for commercial replication if need be. You can also tie this fly in a variety of colors, our favorites other than this are in black and purple.
